Setting the Standard for Clean, Efficient Transportation
Adura-EV has taken a new approach to powertrain development. Rather than attempt to fit electric components into the same traditional mechanical powertrain designs which have provided locomotion to vehicles for more than a century, Adura-EV created its MESA™ (Modular Electric Scalable Architecture) powertrain beginning with electrical systems and software control. This architecture brings a level of scalability and modularity that is new to the automotive industry and in turn enables unrivaled electric range in heavy vehicles. The patent pending MESA platform is comprised of several key modules:
mCtrl — This first-of-a-kind system control module optimally and intelligently manages all aspects of powertrain control between system modules. mCtrl features power management electronics and system control software that ensures high reliability, overall system efficiency, serviceability and fault tolerance.
mStor — This scalable, field-installable energy storage system can be configured by fleet managers and end users to meet specific route requirements. mStor supports from 1 to 10 energy storage modules, storing over 200 kWhrs in total. As the mStor modules can be easily added or subtracted from the powertrain to meet users’ varying electric-mode requirements, it can offer 25, 50 or 100 miles of electric range. This breakthrough modular energy storage system is fault tolerant and allows the mixing of battery chemistries within the storage system.
mDrive — This module contains motor power electronics and controls. The electric motor is optimally controlled to deliver smooth, efficient acceleration and regenerative braking.
mBridg — This module is the interface between the powertrain, the bus controls and accessories, and infotainment. It provides the driver interfaces and the near real-time automated systems maintenance diagnosis and reports for the driver and maintenance support staff.
mGen — This module is generator agnostic. mGen enables the use of diesel, microturbine and fuel cells as sources of onboard electricity generation. mGen intelligently charges the energy storage system modules (mStor) when low state-of-charge conditions arise.
The technology leading MESA powertrain addresses the key challenges customers face today: reducing costs, fuel consumption and emissions and it offers improved electric range and robust power.

Partnering for success
Adura-EV’s MESA powertrain for bus manufacturers efficiently aligns business objectives: lower total acquisition cost and lowest total operational costs. Adura-EV’s technology exceeds transportation objectives - city buses traveling up to 150 miles/day with a 100 mile energy storage capacity can achieve up to 50 MPG vs. traditional buses which operate around 5 MPG. MESA provides a smooth, quiet passenger experience, unmatched vehicle reliability, and intuitive driver control.
Adura-EV works closely with bus manufactures on product integration and with transit operators to provide fleet support and operator training. Adura-EV’s intelligent systems-level control can automatically provide daily self-diagnostic reports to Adura-EV, bus owners and fleet maintenance staff.
